A former House of Assembly member and the immediate past chairman, Ife-East local government, Hon. Olusegun Adeyeni has urged political office holders to prepare for life after office as not all that glitters are gold.

Adeyeni made this known in an interview with Osundaily. According to him, political office is for a short period of time and one should prepare for life after office.

He said he had prepared for life after office with his private business which has been keeping him going. "I now have time for for my family, God and it is conducive and I have been enjoying private life".

"Political office is a service to humanity, politicians are expected to give dividends of democracy to the masses. The sit-tight-syndrome style of politics should be jettisoned and sacrificed for the poor in society".

The former assembly member stressed that politicians should not see politics as a means of livelihood and most politicians lived a flamboyant life, spent extravagantly and forget life after office which may not work out as planned.

The privileges enjoyed while in office stops immediately one lives office. Politics should not be a full affair but means to give back to society.

He said,

"One of my major achievements while in office was the commissioning of lock-up shops at Ojaife market and several projects. It was a memorable day for me. This was done with the support of my executive members".

Asked if he is still active in politics, " I am still active in politics and it is an inborn in me because is a means of given back to the society. "

Adeyeni opined that the crisis rocking the All Progressive Congress would soon be resolved as efforts are being made by the party elders for reconciliation, saying that the issue is a misunderstanding between brothers in a family and would be resolved.

"It is a family matter and it happened in politics. Everybody must come together in the interest of the party as the party must win the forthcoming gubernatorial election. There is no opposition in Osun and APC will the poll.

"Members should shealth their sword and unite in the interest of the party as the party is supreme over members. The governor Gboyega Oyetola has developed the state and deserved to be re-elected for second term," he added.

The former council chairman who is also an educator, described the standard of education in the state as progressing, noting the sector has not gotten where it ought to be, but government is making efforts to rejuvenate the sector with several policies put in place by the state government. He stressed that thought the private school is doing better than the public schools.
