Fear grips Ife over robbery attacks, as residents keep vigil

There has been palpable fear in Ile-Ife over robbery attacks. The ancient town has been experiencing various robbery attacks from unknown robbers. 

Investigation revealed that many residents were robbed of their property and life. Residents could no longer sleep with their two eyes closed. 

According to a resident who preferred Anonymous, said robbers have been having free day in the past two weeks. 

"Residents have been keeping vigil in the last two weeks, burning tyres, using all sort of means to scare the robbers.

The security situation is problematic though security men are trying their best but not doing enough".

Findings revealed that the robbers sent letters to various communities in the town. The robbers had gun duel with the residents at Ondo road and Safejo areas of the town as one of the robbers was killed while others escaped.

Check by our correspondent showed that many landlords and tenants were in the midnight seen burning tyres, equipped with various ammunition as burned tyres were found in every nook and cranny of the town. 

The residents called on security agents to brace up their activities to curb the activities of the robbers as security of life and property is not guaranteed.
