Hunger Drove Them, says Former Osun State Dep.Governor Whose House was Looted


Looters besieged the Osogbo GRA residence of the former Osun State Deputy Governor , Otunba Grace Titi Ponle-Tomori and stole away home appliances , electronics and musical equipment worth millions on naira.

The politician who was not in Osogbo when the incident occured made the disclosure in a telephone interview with journalists.

According to her , one of her neighbors phoned her immediately the looters bombarded her residence in early hours of last saturday.

Otunba Ponle-Tomori said her house keeper ran for his dear life when she was attacked while her police orderly received some beatings when he tried to stop the looting particularly in their attempt to steal the motorcycle in the premises.

According to her, the looters vandalised the chapel where prayers are held and carted away a keyboard , television set , fridge , projector and the machines she uses to produce garri .

She added , "the mob stole all the foodstuff in the premises including bags and packs of garri produced for sale in her farm and fish feeds that she uses to feed the fish in her pond.

During the lockdown occasioned by the COVID19 Pandemic , Otunba Laoye-Tomori purchased food stuffs and other palliatives which she distributed to vulverable people in Osogbo , Olorunda , Orolu and Irepodun Federal constituency.

She said , "may be this attracted them thinking we still have more items in the residence". 

Otunba Ponle-Tomori expressed sadness that anyone could be wicked to attack her house under the guise of protest . In her words" I am not in any position . I am not in government . I was a Deputy Governor . I did not steal any money . I wonder why the attack".

She however said the looters need empathy and prayers for forgiveness because " it was hunger that drove them. May God rehabilitate Nigeria. We felt pained for them and pray for them" , She added.
