Blind 77-year-old man arraigned for possession of indian hemp, breach of peace

  A-77-year-Old blind man,Adebayo Kareem was on wednesday arraigned before the magistrate court,sitting in Osogbo for alleged possession  of indian hemp.

 The accused person who arraigned before magistrate Risikat Olayemi was charged on two-count bordering  on indian hemp possession and breach of public peace.

  The accused was said to have possessed one huge bag, containing a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be indian hemp.

  He was also said to have conducted himself in a manner likely to have caused breach of peace.

  The offences was said to have occurred on  November 5,2019,around 6:30pm at Odofin compound Okuku in osun state.

  According to the details of the offence,it was contrary to and punishable under section 430,249(d) of the criminal code cap 38c vol11 laws of osun state of Nigeria 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.

 The police prosecutor,Idowu  Rachael said the accused is an ex-convict,that he has been arrested by the NDLEA sometimes, and had been remanded twice in prison,continued he is an indian hemp seller.

 The accused whose legal representative is absence said he cannot identify nor know his name.

 Magistrate Olayemi considering the age and the health of the accused person,refused to remand him.

  She  however transfered the case to the chief magistrate court Okuku,for mentioning on November 11,2019.
