History will vindicate Badeh, says family

The family of the slain former Chief of Defence Staff , Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, says he never bore any grudges against the government which was prosecuting him before he was killed .

A representative of the family , Mrs Julie Faruku , said this on Sunday at a Service of Songs in honour of Badeh, who was shot dead on December 18 , 2018 in Nasarawa State .

She described Badeh as an easygoing and selfless man .

Faruku said it was possible that the deceased had a premonition of his death .
She said , “ One thing I want to say is that even when he was going through his trial , he was so peaceful about it. He came to our house very often and he never made any negative remark about what he was going through or whatever it was .

“ I can tell you as an insider that he was very calm . Perhaps , we could say that he knew he was going to die and I can testify that he was not bitter towards anybody because if there was an element of bitterness , we would have known .

“ He would come , watch television , and play games on his phone. Even when you tried to make him say something , he would be playing games on his phone. He would never ever say a word . I want to thank God that he lived a good life.

“ The testimony is that he is with the Lord .
We want to thank God for a life well spent .
He reached the peak of his career to the glory of God and he has left his mark . Whether we say it or not , history will vindicate him . ”

Also speaking, a family friend and senior pastor of Family Worship Centre , Sarah Omakwu , said it was painful that the retired military officer was killed .

Omakwu added , “ This is a very difficult one because when people are sick and die , you say they have rested . But when somebody is gunned down , it is hard . And when it was someone who was kind and peace- loving , it is even harder . ”
